Announced by the Federation of Gay Games, Denver's bid marks a significant milestone, positioning the city as a frontrunner to host this prestigious event. As the only American city to advance, Denver will present its case alongside nine other cities from five continents in Washington DC later this fall.
Denver's bid to host the 2030 Gay Games has garnered unmatched local and state support, with organizations and officials rallying behind the initiative. The bid committee, in collaboration with Visit Denver, is showcasing the city's diverse offerings, from world-class sporting venues to unrivaled cultural and entertainment experiences.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis and Denver Mayor Mike Johnston have thrown their full support behind the bid, emphasizing the city's commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
In the coming months, Denver's bid committee will finalize proposed venues for cultural events and over 35 sports, ranging from Gay Games staples to local favorites. The committee has been working closely with Denver's active LGBTQ+ community, leveraging decades of experience by local organizations to organize tournaments and community events.
Denver aims to bring the Gay Games back to North America for the first time since 2014. Recent games have been hosted in Paris (2018) and Hong Kong and Guadalajara (2023), with the 2026 edition set to take place in Valencia, Spain.
If selected as the host city for the 2030 Gay Games, Denver looks forward to not only welcoming athletes from across the world to the Mile High City but also providing opportunities for the city’s countless athletes and performers to participate in the events they love, regardless of their sexual or gender identity.
